Welcome to the web page of Glenn Wilson on Horses and
Hooves.
By comparison to most horse people, I began my horse journey only a
short time ago. Many told me of my need to catch up, to learn
a lifetime of horse experience in a short time. So boots
and all, in I went.
Discovering Natural Horsemanship placed me (and my horses) on a pathway
that personally felt correct. It also allowed me to discover barehoof
horse performance and natural hoof trimming.
I used to find it incredible that horse people with a lifetime of horse
experience put up with a less than optimum relationship with their horses
and almost total ignorance of hooves. I now accept that this is
reality and also, that I can make a difference (to the hooves at least). When
or whether these horse people redefine their relationship with their
horse is their choice. Hope it’s soon though.
Not long after I started trimming others hooves, I realised why I did
it. Every now and then I trimmed a horse and they just seemed to
bounce away on their ‘new’ feet. And they seemed really
happy about it. Often they would turn around and look me
in the eye and say “Thankyou”. Now I have some records
of tragic hooves turning into wonderful hooves, primarily with regular
hoofcare, as well I have many sound barehoof horses on a regular trim
schedule.
So it’s for the horses. We have much to learn from these
great Gods of animals. They show us complete honesty, they show
us real forgiveness and they show us how to live in the moment.
